Grand Central Madison

Diamond Award, Transportation

Earning ACEC NY鈥檚 highest accolade, this new service 鈥 undertaken for Metropolitan Transportation Authority Construction & Development 鈥 gives Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) passengers a one-seat ride to Manhattan鈥檚 East Side. Grand Central Madison also provides direct connections to the Metro North Railroad and five New York City Transit subway lines. We served as the overall program manager and construction manager for the project, which includes eight new tracks on four platforms and a 700,000-square-foot terminal and concourse, and also required modernization of the Harold Interlocking, the busiest rail junction in the nation.

New York Penn Station LIRR Train Hall Renovation Phase 2 Concourse Improvements

Platinum Award, Transportation

As designer of record, working with design-build partner Skanska, USA we provided design, engineering, vertical transportation and project management services to enhance this major transportation hub for Metropolitan Transportation Authority Construction & Development. The program improved capacity and passenger circulation by doubling the LIRR concourse width, adding new elevators, and delivering more intuitive wayfinding and information displays. Increased ceiling heights and an upgraded HVAC system brought new light and air to the station. These concourse improvements serve as a companion to the Phase 1 Renovation 33rd Street Entrance, which earned a Diamond Award from ACEC NY in 2022.

Working in joint venture, we are providing program and construction management services to the New York City Department of Design and Construction for this project at the Queens Civic Center. The eight-level, 600-car garage is outfitted with a photovoltaic trellis on its roof and connects to a 25,000-square-foot community space with a grass roof. The new garage adds much needed parking space for the adjacent courthouse during the day and for community use overnight.

We provided design and construction support on an accelerated 8-month schedule to replace this deteriorated ramp OCH structure and assure safety for the traveling public. The project addressed structural deficiencies using measures that will enable the newly reconstructed ramp to be incorporated into the New York State Department of Transportation鈥檚 planned future expansion of the Cross Bronx Expressway.
