The project consisted of four major components: a seven-story outpatient building; an eight-story inpatient tower; a five-story diagnostic and treatment building; and a 33,000-square-foot central energy plant. The distinct buildings are inter-connected at various levels and all were designed to withstand maximum credible seismic events.

The project scope encompassed a 358,000 SF renovation of the existing Brooke Army Medical Center and a 783,000 SF, seven-story bed tower addition with a helipad, four-story ancillary care center and three-story clinic.

A new 688,861 SF, ten-level tower expansion in addition to a 557,762 SF, seven-level precast concrete parking structure with 1,401 stalls.

The new level 1 trauma hospital tower is anticipated to consist of 96 ICU beds, emergency department, 16 operating rooms, two hybrid operating rooms, four cath labs, six interventional radiology suites, central sterile, pre/post op, pharmacy, lab, imaging, food service, education, rooftop helipad and mechanical spaces.

Researchers, physician-scientists, educators and students come to the facility from around the globe to collaborate on the latest discoveries and breakthroughs.

The 1,300,000-square-foot, 13-floor hospital features 464 beds, 40 emergency exam rooms and 24 operating rooms. The facility is a leading resource for learning about research, medicine, and maintaining good health and was designed with quality, safety, and efficiency in mind.
