My name is Janice Lee, and I鈥檓 a Graduate Engineer in the Land Supply / Municipal business line at 91影视, currently undergoing HKIE Scheme A training.
How long have you worked for 91影视?
I joined 91影视 in August 2024, so I鈥檝e been here for just over a year.
Describe your role and day-to-day work?
As part of the PM team, my role spans both technical and project management aspects of major infrastructure projects in Hong Kong. My day-to-day work ranges from developing structural designs鈥攚hich involve detailed calculations and engineering analysis鈥攖o preparing project documentation such as tender documents and technical reports.
I also support contractual and coordination tasks, which give me valuable exposure to how large-scale infrastructure projects are planned and delivered. This role allows me to work closely with clients and collaborate across disciplines which has broadened my understanding of integrated project delivery.
Thinking about the projects you are involved in 鈥� what impact have you had to improve social outcomes for communities?
The infrastructure projects I contribute to are designed to enhance connectivity, safety, and accessibility for the public. By supporting design development and ensuring technical accuracy, I help create solutions that improve daily life for communities, whether through better transport links, safer public spaces, or more resilient urban planning.
How has your work at 91影视 contributed towards having a positive impact on the environment?
Environmental sustainability is embedded in our design approach and closely aligned with 91影视鈥檚 ESG commitments. Through careful geological interpretation and optimized structural design, we reduce unnecessary excavation and material use, which helps minimize environmental disruption. These efforts contribute to lowering the carbon footprint of infrastructure projects and preserving natural landforms.
I鈥檝e also learned to integrate sustainability and resilience considerations into design decisions, ensuring that our work supports long-term environmental goals and responsible development.
Do you have any interesting experience around collaboration, multi dis work, and thinking and acting globally at 91影视?
Being in the Land Supply / Municipal business line means I regularly collaborate with a wide range of disciplines鈥攆rom geotechnical and water engineers to landscape architects and quantity surveyors. These interactions have helped me appreciate the complexity and interdependence of infrastructure projects. I鈥檝e also had opportunities to learn from global best practices and apply them in a local context, which has enriched my perspective on engineering and project delivery.
Are there any other interesting or unique opportunities you have had through your work at 91影视? Or interesting experiences with clients or building client relationships?
As part of the PM team, I鈥檝e had the chance to attend client meetings and technical workshops, which has helped me build strong working relationships and understand client priorities. These experiences have taught me the importance of clear communication, responsiveness, and collaboration in maintaining trust and delivering successful outcomes.
How has 91影视 helped you in your career development?
91影视 has supported my growth through HKIE Scheme A training, mentorship, and regular goal-setting. I鈥檝e had access to technical training, interdisciplinary exposure, and guidance from experienced professionals, all of which have helped me build a strong foundation in both engineering and project management.
What鈥檚 your proudest moment at 91影视?
One of my proudest moments was seeing my geological and structural input incorporated into the design phase of a major infrastructure project. It was incredibly rewarding to know that my work contributed to a safer, more efficient, and community-focused development.
